Lewis, Clive Staples. 1935 The Pilgrim's Regress. New York: Sheed & Ward Inc. First US edition, first impression, here in scarce unclipped dust wrapper, the wrapper sunned to the spine and chipped to the head and tail, with loss to the head; the panels have the odd damp mark, the rear upper corner folded and with light loss; price corrected in pencil to the inner flap. The book itself chipped with losses to the spine ends and along the edges; the closed page edges a touch spotted, and one or two spots to the prelims. A smart and scarce first US edition of Lewis' first published work of prose fiction, a contemporary reimagining of John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, published fifteen years prior to his first work in the Chronicles of Narnia series. 8vo.
