Quire Auctions founders in front of bookshelves

About Us

We want you to delight in the process of selling and buying at our auctions. We believe it makes sense to offer a very competitive premium of 24% (that's around 10% lower than our closest competitors) alongside reasonable shipping costs.

Our processes are designed to make life simple for consignors and bidders. For example, successful bidders can choose in-house shipping at the point of invoice payment or can opt to use their own shippers.  Most importantly, we commit to despatch within 4 working days of payment.

Quire Auctions has been founded by a team with decades of experience in the rare book trade, combined with a track record in curating auctions that exceed expectations. We are all committed to excellent customer service. Combining deep trade knowledge with a transparent, data-driven approach to valuation, our team will ensure collections reach the right buyers at the right time. From initial appraisal through to catalogue photography and sale, every step is handled with care and professionalism.

Head of Auctions : Caitlin Riley

Caitlin has a track record in building the hammer price of book auctions. This is via careful auction curation and the optimisation of hammer prices on individual lots.  With a career foundation as a book cataloguer, initially working for a rare bookdealer and then at The Cotswold Auction Company, Caitlin moved on to establish the book department at Auctioneum. Within just eighteen months, the sale and its market grew enormously, with her final sale at Auctioneum including the record-breaking Hobbit first edition, first impression, which made headlines around the world.
